Durian Garden Durian Varieties: Names and How to Get Seeds
Durian Garden names its durians after Thai varieties. The main named varieties are Kradumthong, Chanee, Monthong and Phuang Manee; here is how durian seeds work, from the free Kradumthong starter to the restocking seed shop.
Quick answer
Durian Garden uses Thai durian variety names. The four named in game are Kradumthong (กระดุมทอง), Chanee (ชนี), Monthong (หมอนทอง) and Phuang Manee (พวงมณี); a player also names Kanyao as another breed. Kradumthong is your free starting seed; for other varieties, buy a durian seed from the seed shop's rotating stock and plant it.
Durian variety names in Durian Garden are Thai and are not translated into English, so the Thai script below is how the names appear in game. One player browsing the seed shop found the many entries hard to identify.

The four named varieties
| Variety | Thai name |
|---|---|
| Kradumthong | กระดุมทอง |
| Chanee | ชนี |
| Monthong | หมอนทอง |
| Phuang Manee | พวงมณี |
Your first seed is Kradumthong
New players get a free farm plot from the tutorial's FARM PLOT pad, and a free durian seed comes with it. That seed is Kradumthong, and the banner reads “You got a free durian seed! Plant it on your farm.” Plant it and water it; the planting walkthrough covers the basics.
Buying seeds for other varieties
Durian seeds come from the seed shop in the central zone, next to the selling point. You need harvest money first: load durians into the truck, drive into the central selling point and press E to get paid — the how to sell durians guide covers that route. Then:
- Check the seed entries and their prices. Each entry shows its current price.
- Wait for a restock if what you want is not listed. The stock rotates roughly every five minutes, and the “The Seed Shop has restocked!” banner marks a new rotation, so look again.
- Buy the seed and plant it on your farm.
If money is short, Kradumthong is the early seed-shop buy; check its price before saving for another variety. One player planned to buy Chanee and Monthong seeds once they had more money from selling harvests.
Telling varieties apart
One player described durian breeds such as Monthong and Kanyao as having different appearances, then admitted they could not tell which variety was which just by looking at a tree and could only guess, “Could this be, uh, Monthong?” Note which variety you planted where. The carried Kradumthong seed is labelled “Kradumthong Seed”, which identifies that seed before it goes in the ground.
One player also noted their Chanee tree growing much more slowly than their other durian trees during a single session; that is one player's observation, not a confirmed trait of the variety.
A durian can also show a Rainbow effect, which the player recognised as a special mark on the fruit and sold for noticeably more than ordinary durians. It is a visual effect on a grown durian, not another variety name; the mutations guide covers it.
